Minneapolis, MN – Greater Minnesota Housing Fund (GMHF) Board of Directors named Andrea Brennan, the current City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development director with more than 20 years of experience, as the organization’s next president and CEO. GMHF is a mission-driven community development financial institution that raises low-cost, high-impact affordable housing investment capital to deploy throughout Minnesota.
As CEO and president, Brennan will oversee the organization’s strategic direction and investment priorities while managing a staff of 28 and developing partnerships throughout Greater Minnesota. Brennan replaces outgoing President and CEO Warren Hanson, who founded GMHF and will retire in June after 27 years as the organization’s leader.
“Andrea is a proven housing leader who is committed to achieving equitable outcomes through strong partnerships and creative solutions,” said Nancy Vyskocil, board chair of Greater Minnesota Housing Fund. “Andrea’s relationships, insights and vision will ensure Greater Minnesota Housing Fund continues to expand access to affordable homes for Minnesotans across the state.”
A St. Cloud native, Brennan brings experience working on housing policy and development in the urban core, as well as suburban communities and rural townships.
“I’m excited to join Greater Minnesota Housing Fund because we share a vision to realize housing equity in Minnesota,” said Brennan. “We understand that partnerships across sectors, institutions and disciplines are needed to help communities and residents thrive. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead the talented team and build and nurture those partnerships at GMHF.”
Since 2015, Brennan has led housing development and policy initiatives for the City of Minneapolis, most recently overseeing its Community Planning and Economic Development division. Previously, Brennan led community development for the Dakota County Community Development Agency. She has served on several prominent housing finance, policy and development boards including the Heading Home Hennepin Executive Committee, the Family Housing Fund and the Minnesota Housing Partnership. She is a graduate of the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota and the University of San Diego.
