SUMMARY:MHA Investors Club: Building a Multi Housing Business - The Good\, the Bad\, and the In Between
DESCRIPTION:This event is brought to you by the Minnesota Multi Housing Association (MHA). Complimentary registration is offered to GMHF Emerging Developers Program participants via this special registration form. Complete and submit to register@mmha.com to reserve your spot. \nMany rental property owners believe growing their portfolio will automatically make life easier. Bill Cullen’s 37-year journey proves it’s not that simple. From his early days flipping houses to becoming a reluctant landlord\, navigating market downturns\, rebuilding after the Great Recession\, and ultimately operating a stabilized 380-unit portfolio\, Bill has gone through nearly every phase of ownership. In this candid session\, Bill explains what went right\, what went wrong\, and what he would do differently — with a focus on the real tradeoffs that come with growth. \nThis presentation is designed for rental property owners with small and mid-sized portfolios who want to grow thoughtfully\, avoid common traps\, and build a business that works in both good times and bad. \nThis is a Lunch & Learn session\, with lunch provided by American Family Insurance – Fost Choles Agency\, Archway Contracting\, and Citizens State Bank.

SUMMARY:HPN Virtual Peer Exchange: Emerging Developers and NOAH Preservation - Lessons from Minnesota
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to share that GMHF is presenting at an upcoming Housing Partnership Network virtual session on Friday\, April 24 at 1 p.m. \nIrene Ruiz-Briseño\, Senior Program Manager – Emerging Developers\, will share on our recent report on pairing emerging developers with naturally occurring affordable housing (NOAH) preservation. \nWith the increasingly common pairing of emerging developer and NOAH preservation programs\, we undertook an evaluation of efforts in Minnesota. \nDuring the evaluation process\, we asked two main questions: \n\nHow well do the parallel goals of supporting emerging developers and NOAH preservation work together in practice?\nWhat conditions are needed to ensure that the pairing of emerging developer and preservation programs can succeed?\n\nIrene will discuss our findings and recommendations and then open up the conversation to hear from others on their efforts to support emerging developers and preserve NOAH.
