Greater Minnesota Housing Fund has a family of funds to meet all of your financing needs.

As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Greater Minnesota Housing Fund assembles financial resources and tools that support the creation of safe, decent, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families and historically underserved emerging market households throughout Greater Minnesota.

Access to capital is what makes the creation and preservation of affordable housing possible. Since its work began in 1996, Greater Minnesota Housing Fund has awarded more than $270 million in financial support to high priority affordable housing developments.

As the leading affordable housing Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in Minnesota, GMHF helps communities and developers promote the creation of well-planned, mixed-income neighborhoods through the following types of support:

GMHF offers the following types of loans:

  • Interim Financing: GMHF provides loans such as predevelopment, acquisition, construction, and other similar types of short-term loans for the preservation and construction of affordable housing. Learn more about Interim Financing.
  • Permanent Financing: GMHF provides long-term amortizing loans, TIF loans, gap loans, and other permanent loans. Through the NOAH Impact Fund, GMHF provides financing to preserve the affordability of at-risk naturally occurring affordable housing in the Twin Cities region and other Minnesota metros. GMHF’s nonprofit subsidiary, Minnesota Equity Fund, syndicates tax credits for affordable housing in Minnesota and other states.

Technical Assistance

In addition to providing low-interest financing for affordable housing, GMHF offers technical assistance to help government agencies and developers with their low-income housing planning and implementation needs.
