Next in Nonprofits interview with Warren Hanson

Next in Nonprofits host Steve Boland interviews Warren Hanson about GMHF's established and emerging financing tools for creating and preserving affordable housing.

The Minnesota Equity Fund “is a new social enterprise designed to raise equity capital from Minnesota corporations and banks to invest in well designed, high quality, sustainable affordable housing developments throughout Minnesota.” The fund is a subsidiary social enterprise of the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund.

Warren Hanson, President and CEO of the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, joins Steve Boland to talk about traditional means for supporting affordable housing development and preservation, and why the Minnesota Equity Fund – as well as the newly emerging NOAH Impact Fund – are important new tools to meet more of the need for quality affordable housing. Creating a mechanism for equity investors to see a return on investment and a social impact is what Hanson describes as a “double bottom line” return.
